If you have been living in La-la-land these past few days and does not know what the media hype is all about, see this actual footage of the incident…
After receiving a technical foul during Tuesday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, Bryant stormed to the bench, hit his chair, threw a towel and then yelled “Bennie! F—— F—–!” toward referee Bennie Adams.
You would think it’s no big deal, right? WRONG! As gay and lesbian advocacy groups started to cry foul Wednesday afternoon, Bryant said that his comments “should not be taken literally”.
“My actions were out of frustration during the heat of the game, period,” he said. “The words expressed do NOT reflect my feelings towards the gay and lesbian communities and were NOT meant to offend anyone.”
I guess, apology wasn’t enough to calm down the heat. NBA Commissioner David Stern called the gay slur “offensive and inexcusable” and fined Kobe $100,000. Based on latest reports, Kobe said he will appeal the fine.
What do you think? Should Kobe make the appeal or should he just pay the fine and move on?
