What has the world come into? Gone are the days when organizers scout for the best role model in town to speak in their social functions. They handle the tough job of looking for someone who could narrate their personal experiences and encourage the audience to apply them in their personal lives.
But that’s not how things work out anymore. Organizers now hire the services of those who create a lot of buzz about their own misfortunes and crazy antics.
Take the case of Bristol Palin, daughter of former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. After becoming an unwed teen mother, she earned a whopping $262,000 for speaking about teen pregnancy prevention. This figure doesn’t even include the amount she got paid when she appeared in last season’s “Dancing with the Stars”.
Then, “Jersey Shore”‘s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi made $32,000 for speaking at Rutgers University in New Jersey and encouraged students to “study hard, but party harder.”
Her fee was even $2,000 higher than Rutgers is planning to pay Nobel-winning novelist Toni Morrison to give the university’s commencement address in May.
Guess it pays to get knocked up or be a fool of yourself!
