Two Pinoys Made it to Top 24 American Idol

24 Feb

Thia Megia and Clint Jun Gamboa made it to the Top 24 of the 10th season American Idol.

In tonight’s episode, 15 year old Thia was the last female contestant to join the Top 24. Clint, on the other hand, was among the first four who made it last night.

I’m sure a lot of Filipinos will be glued to their TV sets when these two compete next week for Top 12. This is the second time in the show’s history that two Filipinos made it to Top 24. In season 3, Camille Velasco made it to Top 9 while Jasmine Trias was Top 3. Fantasia Barrino won that season.

Ramiele Malubay was the last Filipina who made it to the Top 12 in season 7 when David Cook won. Ramiele made it to Top 9.

Starting next week, “American Idol” will start accepting online votes next Tuesday. The electronic ballots will be cast on AmericanIdol.com assisted by Facebook, which will verify the identities of viewers through a log-in process. Each viewer who logs in through Facebook will be allowed to vote 50 times during the weekly window after the broadcast. Votes through toll-free phone numbers and, for AT&T customers, text messages are still accepted.

Don’t forget to vote for our fellow “kabayans“!

Are multiple facebook accounts allowed? If yes, I’ll set up a fake Lou Sarah account.

Hey, that’s Sarah Palin’s fake account already so you can’t use that anymore. Try Lou Palin.

These Filipinos are very talented. Except, I was not sure whether Jasmine deserved to be 3rd. I could remember Simon fuming mad.
