After a record-breaking 17-hour-long preorder sellout for the highly anticipated iPhone, Verizon with their newest commercial takes a not so subtle jab at longtime competitor AT&T.
The ad begins with a spinning series of close-up shots of the iPhone, as epic music plays and the voiceover calls the phone “beautiful,” “intelligent,” and “ingenious,” before asking, “But does your network… work?”
A man picks up the now-ringing phone and answers, “Yes, I can hear you now,” before touting Verizon’s network.
And what’s AT&T’s answer to that? In their newly released ad, a man is shown working late in his office when he receives a call from his wife. When she asks about the plans for their anniversary that night, a frantic look crosses his face as he realizes he has forgotten the big night. Mid-call, he is able to pull up the browser of his iPhone and search for restaurants. Playing it cool, he talks up the night’s plans while making the reservations from his phone.
Only AT&T’s network lets your iPhone talk and surf at the same time.

This is probably a wake-up call for AT&T. It’s about time that AT&T do something about all their dropped calls. I expect them to say to their clients, “Yes, I can hear you now and will do something about it”.

I considered switching but realized it’s more expensive than AT&T. However, AT&T sucks. Time to get go phones!
